Dichter, Christian selected for Southwest Super Lawyers 2008

Once again, CDS partners Steve Dichter and Doug Christian have been selected for listing in Southwest Super Lawyers by the publisher of Law & Politics. Listed since its inception in 2007, Steve's practice emphasizes white collar criminal defense and commercial litigation. Doug's practice includes insurance law and personal injury defense. Southwest Super Lawyers' selections are based upon a survey of 18,000 active lawyers in Arizona and New Mexico.

Law & Politics' research department examined and evaluated the background and experience of nominees and chose the listed attorneys based on firm size and highest point totals in each category. Only 5 percent of the lawyers in Arizona are listed in Super Lawyers.

Christian and Dichter selected for Best Lawyers in America 2009

CDS partners Doug Christian and Steve Dichter were selected for inclusion in the 26th edition of the prestigious publication The Best Lawyers In America® published by Woodward/White Inc.

Once again, Doug appears in the Insurance Law and Personal Injury Law categories and Steve in the White-Collar Criminal Defense category for Arizona. Doug and Steve are licensed to practice in both Arizona and Nevada. Kelly Hedberg Passes Nevada Bar Exam

Congratulations to Kelly Hedberg who recently passed the Nevada Bar examination and is now admitted to practice in both Arizona and Nevada.

Doug Christian and Martin Kravitz Named Fellow of American Bar Foundation

Christian, Kravitz, Dichter & Johnson shareholders Doug Christian and Martin Kravitz have been selected as Fellows of the American Bar Foundation. Established in 1952, the American Bar Foundation is now recognized as the premier institute for social science research on law in the country. The Fellows of the American Bar Foundation is an honorary organization of attorneys, judges, law faculty, and legal scholars who have been elected by their peers to become members. The Fellows recognize lawyers whose professional, public and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the welfare of their communities and to the highest principles of the legal profession. Membership in the Fellows is limited to one-third of 1% of lawyers in America.

Three of our lawyers recently successfully defended, in Arizona, an insurer against a punitive damages claim and prevailed on 5 of 6 counts of bad faith in an insurance bad faith case.

Two of our lawyers recently obtained summary judgment in an $8,000,000 insurance coverage dispute in Arizona; and another obtained summary judgment in Nevada dismissing a bad faith claim made by a primary insured.

One of our senior lawyers recently defensed an $11,000,000 products liability and warranty claim, after being hired by an excess carrier to assume the defense of the trial from the primary insurance company's designated attorney.

One of our rising stars also recently tried a $9,000,000 personal injury claim after assuming the defense from another counsel only 60 days before trial. The jury's verdict resulted in a minimal award which did not exceed the offer of judgment. As a result, Plaintiff will recover a deminimus monetary award.

In transactional litigation, we also recently obtained a seven figure settlement against a national motel chain, which failed to live up to the terms of its lease with a major hotel company.

Our Las Vegas managing member has tried two cases in the last year for major hotel/casinos. In each instance, the plaintiffs sought millions of dollars in damages, and we obtained defense verdicts.
