Austin was born and raised in Moundsville, West Virginia. After receiving an undergraduate degree from West Virginia University, Austin decided to move to Phoenix to attend the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University and has called Arizona his home ever since.
As a law student, Austin worked as a limited practice student for the Maricopa County Office of the Public Defender. This program allowed him to appear in court on behalf of clients while under the supervision of a mentoring attorney. During his final semester of law school, he worked as law clerk for the Maricopa County Office of the Public Defender and continued working in that role until he was licensed to practice.
Austin joined Christian, Dichter & Sluga after working for the Maricopa County Office of the Public Defender. As a public defender, Austin defended a variety of criminal cases and made daily courtroom appearances.
Outside of practice, Austin enjoys running, exploring the outdoors, obstacle racing, and spending time with his cat.
